F. Holmes Lamoreux — Chairman and C.E.O.
F. Holmes Lamoreux is Chairman of the Sabreliner Board of Directors, a position he has held since he and investment partners acquired the Sabreliner Division of Rockwell International on July 1, 1983. He is also President and Chief Executive Officer of the aerospace modification, repair and overhaul company, as well as being the majority stockholder.
Under Lamoreux’s executive leadership Sabreliner substantially diversified its operations to include specialized government programs in both the fixed-wing and helicopter fields and developed substantial subcontracting relationships in both the commercial and military aviation markets.
Much of the success of the company was the result of strategic acquisitions it made in the aerospace industry, its development of those acquisitions and the subsequent sale of some of them. In 1992 for example, Sabreliner acquired engine and accessory overhaul and repair facilities in Neosho, Mo. and Independence, Kan. The company later separately acquired a San Diego, Calif. engine component overhauler and the heavy maintenance capabilities for the popular TFE731 turbofan engine. Sabreliner combined those engine capabilities into a single business line called Premier Turbines and developed it into a profitable business unit before selling it. Similarly, in 1994 Sabreliner purchased Midcoast Aviation, Inc. which had aviation service, repair and modification facilities in St. Louis, Cahokia, Ill. and Little Rock, Ark. and fixed base operations in both St. Louis and Little Rock. The business was dramatically expanded and profitably sold in 2006. Those carefully planned acquisitions, the development of products and business and their advantageous sales are a hallmark of the company’s overall strategy as directed by the chairman.
Prior to purchasing Sabreliner, Lamoreux served in a succession of executive roles in American corporations. He was first in his Master of Business Administration class at Columbia University and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with honors in economics and a minor in Accounting from McGill University. He has a passion for travel and cats, both large and small. He sponsored part of a cheetah viewing area at the St. Louis Zoo, and also was sponsor of the snow leopard on the zoo’s carousel. He is a significant supporter of the Snow Leopard Trust.
