Subcontracting
As an Original Equipment Manufacturer itself, Sabreliner Corp. understands just how important it is in the aviation industry to work with dependable subcontracting partners who can meet the highest performance standards. It is precisely that OEM experience that has made Sabreliner a trusted subcontracting partner to leaders in the corporate aviation industry.
Whether it's fabricating sheet metal assemblies for Bombardier's Challenger business jets, manufacturing major flight control components for Boeing's KC-135, or producing and assembling parts for Sikorsky helicopters, Sabreliner's parts manufacturing and assembly skills-which began with the production of hundreds of Sabreliner aircraft decades ago-are still in full view within Sabreliner operations. Today's Sabreliner is:
- Building assemblies, subassemblies and components for several lines of Sikorsky helicopters.
- Fabricating a variety of sheet metal parts and assemblies for Bombardier's line of long-range Challenger business jets.
- Fashioning cabinetry and stringing wire harness assemblies for custom business jet completions.
With expertise in a wide range of corporate aviation's fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft programs, Sabreliner has the facilities and resources to support leading aerospace companies and OEMs with new aircraft production and the maintenance, modification and sustainment of existing aircraft.
Those business partners recognize that Sabreliner has the equipment, technicians and other assets that are necessary to meet their most demanding needs, extending from production of precision parts to large assemblies and subassemblies, material chemical processing, tooling production, interior cabinetry, wire harness assemblies, and much more.
Sabreliner's comprehensive dedication to subcontracting is reflected in its commitment of substantial resources, including:
Program management- Engineering
- Government contracts administration
- Material and supply logistics support
- Quality and safety management
- FAA airframe & power plant and FAA repairman capabilities
As a contracting source, Sabreliner has produced everything from small, short-run aircraft components such as gaskets and rings to large, critical center wing assemblies, and nearly everything in between, including thousands of detailed, machined parts, fittings, tubing, weld assemblies, subassemblies and custom-designed aircraft interiors.
Regardless of the type, complexity or scope of the job, Sabreliner provides a complete turnkey contracting solution incorporating design and engineering, tooling production, parts fabrication, assembly and inspection. That means Sabreliner can control every step of the process from design to production, kitting and shipping. And that means projects are delivered on time and on budget.
For corporate aviation customers, Sabreliner has built interior cabinetry and wire harnesses for custom aircraft completions being managed by Midcoast Aviation, a worldwide leader in custom business aircraft completions. Part of that work included the fabrication of a variety of sheet metal parts and assemblies for Bombardier's line of long-range Challenger 605 business jets for use in galleys, baggage supports, closet storage kits and other interior applications.
In addition, the company manufactures more than 150 sheet metal or machined parts for helicopters at its recently expanded St. Mary, Mo. dedicated aerospace manufacturing center. The work there includes building sub-assemblies, assemblies and other components for two lines of Sikorsky corporate helicopters, the S-92A and the S-76 Spirit.
Sabreliner also subcontracts with Master Support Inc. to manufacture channels and ribs used as components of replacement blades for the Sikorsky S-61 twin-engine helicopter. The S-61 is the civilian variation of the Sikorsky H-3 Sea King helicopter and is one of the more widely used airliner and oil rig support aircraft, featuring a stand-up passenger compartment. A government VIP version of the S-61 is the VH-3D, the model of helicopter used to transport the President of the United States.
The company's engine accessory overhaul and repair operation in Independence, Kan. has two decades of experience with engine accessories. As a subcontractor to Intermountain Turbine Services Inc., the company overhauls five key accessories for the Honeywell LTS101 helicopter engine, including fuel controls, temperature compensators, turbine governors, flow fence actuators and overspeed limiters. The LTS101 turboshaft engine powers a wide range of popular helicopters, including the Bell 222, the Eurocopter AS350 Ecureuil, the HH-65 Dolphin and the MBB/Kawasaki BK 117.
