Sabreliner Receives Contract for Air Force Learjet Inspections, Maintenance

Sabreliner Corp. has been awarded a subcontract from DynCorp Technical Services, LLC (a CSC company) with a potential value in excess of $17 million over seven years for airframe depot support of Learjet C-21A aircraft used by the U.S. Air Force. The base contract is for one year, with four consecutive option years.

Under the contract, Sabreliner will provide major inspections and heavy airframe maintenance for the Learjet C?21A aircraft, a military variant of the Lear 35A corporate jet. Work will be performed at Sabreliner's Perryville, Mo. facility, where the company has performed similar work for the past four years.

The twin-engine C-21A aircraft has been utilized by the Air Force to perform cargo and passenger airlift and medical evacuations since 1985. They provide operational support for Air Force commanders, the superintendent of the Air Force Academy, key federal officials, members of Congress and senior-ranking military leaders. In wartime, the C-21A is employed in worldwide time-sensitive movement of people and cargo. The fleet also is on 24-hour alert for timely medical evacuation missions required anywhere in the United States.

The C-21A fleet is dispersed throughout the Air Force and consists of 76 aircraft stationed at seven worldwide locations. All continental U.S.-based C-21s are assigned to the Air Mobility Command, with the 375th Airlift Wing at Scott Air Force Base, Ill., as the lead command. C-21s stationed outside the continental United States are assigned to the theater commanders.

As the prime contractor, DynCorp has overall contract responsibility and will provide all on-site maintenance for the aircraft.

Perryville employees who will be performing C-21 maintenance are largely current personnel already performing similar work under existing contracts. Sabreliner-owned Midcoast Aviation performs similar work on corporate Learjet aircraft at the Perryville facility.

D. J. "Jim" Meier, Sabreliner vice president, government services noted: "We are pleased to receive this award. It was the logical choice for the Air Force, considering Sabreliner's successful history with this and similar aircraft. We look forward to continuing to serve the Air Force on this important program."

Sabreliner Corp., headquartered in St. Louis, is a diversified aviation services, maintenance and modification firm supporting government and corporate aviation customers worldwide. The company has annualized sales of more than $200 million and employs approximately 1,100 people in three states.
