    The UTX prototype Sabreliner makes its first flight from Palmdale Airport in California

    1960

    The first operational T-39A is delivered to the USAF

    1961-1963

    154 T-39A aircraft are delivered to the USAF

    1962

    Sabreliner Models T-39B and T-39D receive their FAA type certificates

    Sabreliner Model 40, S/N 282-001, was in work at North American Aviation

    Assigned FAA registration number N571R, Sabreliner Model 40, S/N 282-001, has a custom interior installed at Remmert-Werner in St. Louis. Planned for use as a demonstrator, demand for the popular aircraft caused it to be sold to an operator almost immediately.

    1963

    The Navy acquires 42 T-39D aircraft to be used for radar intercept officer trainers

    April 17
    The Sabreliner Model 40 receives its FAA type certificate

    October 24
    The first commercial Sabreliner, S/N 282-002, is delivered to Pet Milk for a selling price of $989,982. The aircraft is still in service with the U.S. Navy in Pensacola, FL.

    The first Model 60, S/N 306-003, is delivered to Air Reduction

    1968

    December 27
    Production of the Model 40 is stopped with the delivery of S/N 282-097 to the FAA

    1970

    Production of the Model 60 is stopped in Los Angeles

    1972

    Model 40 production is restarted with Model 40A. S/N 282-098 arrives in Perryville from Los Angeles for paint, interior and avionics. The aircraft is completed at Perryville on July 21, 1972.

The Sabreliner Model 80 receives its FAA type certificate

    1974

    February 21
    The first Model 80, S/N 380-001, is delivered to N.L. Industries at a price of $1,917,379

    September
    10 Sabreliners are completed this month at Perryville: two Model 40s, five Model 60s and three Model 80s

    September 27
    The last Model 40 is delivered, S/N 282-136

    Rockwell International renames its Aviation Services Division the Sabreliner Division and moves the marketing department from Los Angeles to St. Louis

    1976

    A life extension program is developed, extending the originally certified 10,000 hour or 10,000 cycle life of Sabreliners to 30,000 hours/30,000 cycles. The engineering department also is moved to St. Louis.

    The 500th Sabreliner is delivered to Procter & Gamble. Perryville receives its production certificate, allowing final assembly and initial flight testing to occur in Perryville

    The last Model 60, S/N 306-146, is delivered to Millipore

    The last Model 80, S/N 380-072, is delivered to Saudi-Oger

    The Model 65 receives its FAA type certificate

    December 8
    The first Model 65, S/N 465-12, is delivered to Vasquez Rana

    1980

    February 21 & 22
    The Sabre 65 sets several long-range flight records including:
    • New York to San Francisco: 2285 NM in 6 hours, 1 minute, 33 seconds
      at a speed of 436 statute MPH
    • San Francisco to Boston: 2361 NM in 5 hours, 1 minute, 15 seconds
      at a speed of 541 statute MPH
    • Boston to Paris: 3054 NM in 6 hours, 39 minutes, 20 seconds
      at a speed of 528 statute MPH

    December 11
    The 600th Sabreliner is delivered to Standard Oil of California

    1980 saw the most deliveries of new Sabreliner aircraft; 41 Model 65s were delivered

    1981

    The last production Model 65, S/N 465-076, is delivered to Acopian Technical

    1982

    Rockwell halts new aircraft production, concentrating on selling aircraft in its inventory and on service and parts sales

    Sabreliner moves from its Lambert- St. Louis facility and expands operations to Spirit of St. Louis Airport, leasing three hangars and two office buildings and relocates headquarters there

    1989

    The Excalibur modification, which extended the service life of 40 and 60 models to 15,000 hours, is completed on Sabreliner S/N 306-037 and delivered to North American Royalties

    1990

    Photo A combination of increased commercial sales and the winning of the Undergraduate Naval Flight Officer (UNFO) training program contract results in 20% employment growth and facilities expansion, highlighted by completion of a new engine test cell and a 30,000-sq.ft. hangar at Perryville

    1992

    Sabreliner acquires Teledyne's Neosho, MO, and Independence, KS, operations which include facilities in excess of 320,000 square feet exclusively for aircraft engine overhaul and repair

    1993

    Major flooding along the Mississippi and Missouri rivers inundates Sabreliner's headquarters and two aircraft service facilities, requiring the company to relocate offices and services to temporary sites

Sabreliner acquires Midcoast Aviation, expanding the number of employees to more than 1,000 and increasing facilities space to more than 1 million square feet

    1996

    Sabreliner acquires Turbotech of San Diego, CA, an engine component and accessory overhaul and repair operation. In the process, the corporation combines its engine services into one division named Premier Turbines

    1997

    Logo An innovative inspection and maintenance program, called Sabre 2000, is introduced. The program consolidates structural inspections, provides a corrosion warranty and increases the service life of the aircraft.

    Sabreliner reacquires the first Sabreliner ever built, S/N 282-001, refurbishes it and begins to use it as its own corporate jet

    1998

    Sabreliner develops a composite side panel interior modification, increasing cabin space and reducing the aircraft's weight

    1999

    Sabreliner receives Reduced Vertical Separation Minimums (RVSM) certification for the Sabre 65, making it the best value in RVSM-capable aircraft

  2001

    Sabre 65 RVSM Group Certification received

  2003

    Sale of Neosho facility.

    Introduces new inspection program for 40 & 60, adding 2,000 of service life.
